A Public Conversation

Conversations with Artists represents a new kind of curation, and it has helped to develop how we  understand the role of a museum in a community.

Rather than limiting the discussion of art within the walls of the building, the Sasse is extending it to the streets of the city, bringing notice to those works of art that we might miss because of the limitations of our time or because the noise of the city keeps us focused away from it.

It is turning outward and reminding us that art is all around us, challenging us to re-examine our lives and our perceptions.

In this, and in other ways, it has centered itself as a nexus for the arts in this area.

In this as well, it has given a broader voice to artists whose work might have been missed by people who should see it.
